Frequently Asked Questions
What happens if I miss garbage day?
If you forget to put your garbage out and miss your scheduled pickup, we can arrange a return pickup—based on availability—before your next pickup day. A turnaround fee will apply. Click here to send us a message and include your phone number so we can coordinate the rescheduled pickup.
When should I put my garbage out?
All pails should be placed at the roadside the night before your pickup day. You are welcome to "bear-proof" your containers with a bear strap (many customers use ones from Amazon). Our drivers will exit the truck to remove the strap and empty your garbage.
What items are not accepted?
Your weekly garbage and recycling service covers regular household waste only. We do not accept:
Construction debris
Yard or organic waste
Hazardous materials
“Spring cleaning” or excess volume
Need to dispose of a bulky item? Click here to schedule one bulk item per month or ask us about dumpster rentals.
What if I have more garbage than fits in the pail?
The service includes only what's inside a closed 96-gallon pail. Our drivers cannot pick up extra bags placed beside or sticking out of the container. If you consistently have more garbage, contact us to upgrade your service with an additional pail (for an added fee).
What if my garbage hasn’t been picked up yet?
Pickup times vary. Please have your pail out the night before. If it’s before 3:00 PM, your driver is likely still en route. Kindly wait until after 3:00 PM to contact us.
How does the billing work?
- Billing: choose monthly, quarterly, or annually. There is no pricing difference -- just what works best for you.
Payments are accepted by phone, check, online or autopay.
Bills are mailed or emailed on the 1st and due by the 15th each month.
If you are quarterly, it is due the 15th of the first month for that quarter.
If you are signed up for autopay, please note that autopay gets pulled on the first of the month (same day the bill is created and sent to you).
If you prefer to mail a check, please mail it to:

(^^^^ this can all be added to the "payment options" tab as well please)
How do you handle holidays and weather?
- We do our best to maintain regular schedules during holidays and inclement weather.
Holiday or weather updates will be posted on our Roll-Off JOE facebook page and sent via email.
Do I need to bag garbage and recycling?
Yes, all garbage must be bagged to prevent sticking. Recycling can be loose and is handled through single-stream recycling. Keep your pail clean—if it's damaged, send a photo via text or email. If it’s our fault, we’ll replace it. If it’s due to customer negligence, a fee may apply.
Are there contracts?
Nope! We don’t lock you in. Our customers stay with us because they want to—not because they have to.
What about bear attacks?
We are not responsible for cleaning up garbage scattered by animals. Bagged garbage will be picked up if possible, but loose, spread trash is the homeowner’s responsibility. Feel free to use a bear-proof pail—we’ll even add a Roll-Off JOE sticker to it.
